I am looking to do some distributed computin on the 2 machines i have sitting here pretty much used for e-mail and forums, occasional gaming. I ran folding a while ago and i think its pretty boring. I dont meen to offend any hard-core folders, but there is just no that much excitement over it, and it overrated (in my opinion)
i am doing www.imp.org which is a pov-ray (ray tracing 3d rendering software) community that makes movies and needs people to render frames. But they rarely have any work.
So i am looking for something new and exciting in the world of distributed computing (not folding or seti)
Got any ideas?

  Surely you did not fold for team32. We are a bunch of wild and crazy guys!!  :sn:
you dont run a distributed computing program for the fun, you do it for the cause, run folding, dont go searching for aliens or something stupid like that, do something that can help humanity

as i mentioned i am not planning on running SETI. And i am sure there are plenty of good other causes besides folding, not that i have anything against it.
I agree that the fun factor has quite a bit of weight when choosing a project. If SETI were no fun to me, I'd be folding right now (though that's not gonna happen since I'm so close to 10K WUs! :D).
If you want the big list o' distributed computing projects, check out THIS (http://www.aspenleaf.com/distributed/) site for the 'active projects'. I haven't used any other DC then SETI, so I don't know how fun some projects will be, but that's the biggest list of projects I've ever seen. Should have something that sparks your interest :)
