sandra file system test 22614 when it should be 31400? seriell?

these are the respective kb/s i got on the sandra file system benchmark. The problem, I think, is that I have never been able to laod the ide controller for my board. My drive is a western digital 120gb 7200 rpm ata100 8mb. For some reason the ide controller driver has given errors whenever I try and install it on 2 seperate abit boards. Did fine on the a7n8x. I have heard this is a common problem.

My question is, will I recoup my lost performance if I use the SATA seriell adapter? since it is not on the ide channels? I would still like to fix the IDE controller since my 52x cdrw takes about 9mins to burn a cd. Not kewl.
