View Full Version : Zalman or Themalright?
wats better?... Zalman CNPS7000-AlCu or a SLK-800A with a vantec TD9238H Tornado fan?
In this configuration, the SLK will cool much better and be a lot noisier.
even in its fastest setting the Zalman's 92mm fan turns at a slow 2500rpm.
I'm not sure how they'd compare using the same fan though...
both are great heatsinks, but I think the Zalman is more suited for people who want very good cooling for no noise, as it's hard to change the fan. The SLK is more flexible. You can use a powerful fan like the Vantec for near watercooling performance at high noise, or very good cooling with little noise, once you slow the fan down.
so if you need the flexibility get the SLK + Vantec + Rheostat. if you only need the Zalman's level of cooling, then get the Zalman.
I thought about the same thing and while I realize I could get maybe and extra 2C from one of the SLK/Tornado combos, I ended up with the Zalman 7000Cu for very good cooling @ low noise levels. I believe it was the best solution for me. If you want to maximize your o/c though then you might want to allow for the (significantly) higher noise level and go with the TT.

well you have to realize that if you dont get the zalman, you have to pay for the heatsink + the fan + the rheostat...

The Zalman would be more cost effective, but will run a little warmer than the Thermalright. If you're thinking Thermalright, my personal choice would be the SP-94; a beast of a heatsink, but nothing else cools like it. ;)
im getting a 3200+ and im not gonna oc.. so zalman wud be better choice?
My opinion is Thermalright is better than anything out there at the moment. You just need to look at the heatsink tests to see the performance of their HS's.
I use an SLK800 and I have been very pleased with it. My xp1700 is OCed to over 2.0 and highest temp under load in a hot room has been 42c. Normally its in the mid thirties. So definitly a performer

not to sway you towards thermalright or anything, but i was just in cyber deals and svc.com has the slk900a on sale for 29.99 w/ a 10.00 coupon if you type thermalright in the coupon code box so i just picked up a 900a for 19.99 plus shipping
Ehhhh, thats a pretty good deal.
