Ok I've got 2 HD's set up on removable mounts. One has windows xp on it, the other linux, when i put the windows drive in and boot the machine, boom no problems, when i put the linux drive in and boot the machine it will NOT detect the HD untill i power on/off the machine EXACTLY 3 times, after that it will see the HD and load linux fine.
1st thought somethings futzy with the removable mounts...nope if i connect the drives directly to my computer it still does it
2nd thought loose wires.....nope i jiggled, reconnected, rewired everything , still does it, even tried new fresh cables
whats interesting is the 2nd drive (linux) is actually an old 20 gig WD from my roomate, now it did the same thing for him, now he upgraded to a 80 gig (hense i got the old one) and his new one does it too, somehow im getting the impression his computer is damaging the HD's somehow, because the windows drive i have (granted i never use it anymore) has never been in his machine and like i said works just fine.
its not really a big deal i barely turn off my machine and when i do i just power off/on 3x and it will work fine, no erros on the drive nothing like that...i found this really weird and i figured i'de post to see if anyone can think of something i havent.
Thanks folks
