I am trying to overclock my CPU.

It is a K6/2 400 on an Epox MVP3G mobo, with 256 MB Apacer 133Mhz RAM.

When I up the frequency from 100 to 112 the clock hits 4*112=448. This works fine. However when I try to beat that with the multiplier I run into problems.

I have tried 5*100 and 4.5*112=504, and in both cases the computer will boot fine with a voltage setting of 2.7V.

I have a massive fan and heatsink, which keeps the temp down to below 35 Celsius.

Windows, however, doesn't like it. the explorer keeps giving mee .dll error messages, although it hasn't actually crashed yet.

Is it possible to fix this sort of instability?

in short, the OLD K62s and K63s don't overclock worth anything. I could never get my old K62 400 over 450 either. I would say save your pennies and get a socket a mobo and a Duron. Heck, if you wanna get real cheap and don't play games. newegg.com has a BCM board with integrated sound and video for like $65. And a Duron would be about the same price.

normy, 448 is about the best you should expect. You might be able to get higher if you really push the voltage but it isn't really worth it. Stick with the 112Mhz FSB. Its a lot faster than 100 Mhz on a K62 system.

KaHNZa, newegg sells the Duron 750 Mhz for $34 + $10 shipping to go with that cheap BCM board!
