hey guys......I got a problem.....It's been a problem for a while now but no one can seem to figure out what is causing it or how to fix it......When I first boot up my computer......Sometimes it boots into windows pefect and other times it just sits at a black screen until i reset the computer......Now...At the time...My rig had a 200W PSU and I was running a lot of crap...Most people thoguht it was the PSU being so low that it couldn't put out enough initial power to start it up......I then got a 500W PSU and it still does the same exact thing......Sometimes it will boot up perfect for 1 week and then the next 3 weeks it wont start up normally at all.....All I want to know is what the problem is.....Is it my MB....I have a ECS k7s5a......Crappy Motherboard..Has anybody else had problems with this on that MB? Thanks a bunch guys..

This is only my opinion, and surely not what you want to hear, but I think it's still the power supply. Total wattage is a poor measure of a PSU.

Just my guess.
Good Luck!

I have had the same problem, maybe a little different.

My computer would boot up fine when i would do a normal shutdown. But whenever I would unplug the cord from the PSU or flick the switch on the back of it to get rid of all power (so I can work on my computer), I wouldn't get any signal to the monitor when I powered up and I would be required to press the reset switch before it would boot up. Sometimes it would only boot halfway and I would have to do a hard reset again.

So I diagnosed the problem and it leads to the PSU. Once I booted up with only the essentials (cpu, ram, vid card, one primary hard drive, and floppy drive, no fans except cpu fan) it booted up fine the first time. So I concluded that my PSU doesn't have enough output to do a cold boot. And when I do a normal shutdown, it boots up fine because it is still holding a charge in the capacitors, thats the most logical explanation I can come up with.
I tried booting up with the mobo out of the case to make sure nothing is shorting out.
Tried changing the CMOS battery, no dice. It all leads to the PSU.

So I just sent it out to Antec yesterday for RMA, hopefully I'll get back a fully functioning PSU within the next month...

Good luck.

thanks guys........Aprreciate the imput.....Yea...It's probably my PSU...I just find that weird......I have a 500W but It's a crappy Generic Brand because my old one died and I didn't have any money for a good one.....What do you suggest I should buy?? I am running my 500W Generic on mobo, two hard drives, Radeon 9500 Pro, 1900+ CPU, 2 cd-rom drives, and 3 case fans..Could this be why?? All my Power Cables or extentions off the PSU are used up. What PSU would you suggest?

Fortron 530's seem to be a favorite, and they are decentley priced too.
