How much difference is the performance from Duron to the TB. I use to have a TB but killed it. So I'm thinking about saving money and getting a Duron.

you can look at some benchmarks, but a pretty good difference. What were you running before. If it was an 800 or 900 TBird you won't see too much of a difference, but if you had say a 1.2 then it would be a pretty hefty difference.

I think the Durons are about 10% slower than an equal speed Thunderbird.

Even a T-Bird 1.2 is not that expensive so thats what I would get. If you really want cheep Duron 700s are under $30.

yea if you want a really really cheap cpu then buy a Duron 800, 33 bucks on pricewatch, but a T-bird 1.0 Ghz AXIA will go to about 1.4 Ghz while the Duron 800 will prolly only get around 1 Ghz. Plus a tbird will run better on the same clock speed as a duron. So your talking about 44% better performance. But its also 70 bucks different.
