Should I run it stock for some period of time before raising the voltage, multiplier and FSB?

And when overclocking, should I try to keep the voltage as low as possible to avoid data corruption on the HDD? I think I may have run into that on a Duron 700 with the voltage maxed out.

(As low as will give a good overclock, that is?)

Thanks,

hans

wow, loaded question! I would wait a little bit to see how everything is and do all your installs before overclocking to make sure everything is installed fine with no corruption. Then raise the voltage and burn in, then raise the fsb and multies and go at it!

Raise the voltage first, and burn in. Sounds good.

Can you describe a good method for that? I guess Burn In means to run the chip at a higher than default voltage, right?

Burn in for how long, typically?

Thanks for the info,

hans

A good way to do some burn in is to run folding@home. For more information about F@H, look under the section here in the forum.

It's very hard to say how long time u should do it, I would say around a week, would do it. It depends on how long time u have ur computer running per day. But as I said around a week, if u are running minimum 3 hours per day.
That's just my opinion, maybe some others think it's to much/not enough.
Good luck!

Thanks, I'll look into that right away.

yes definately F@H for burning in, especially long term for about a week. The new proteins it is giving out are really really stressing the cpus. Just check out our little section to find out more!
