View Full Version : OCing the FSB on an A7V

I have an 800mHz Thunderbird running on a 100mHz FSB, I was wondering how to go about overclocking the bus to 133mHz if possible. I have an A7V with the DIP switches, I thought I could just flip them to the 133 bus setting, but that rendered my comp unbootable until I put it back down. Do I have to increase the voltage or something? Sorry for this newbieish question, but I'm just trying to learn.

Unfortunately the A7V is based on the KT133 chipset, which won't do 133 (I know, the setting's there in BIOS but it won't) - generally it will max out at around 110MHz. The newer KT133a chipset (like you find on the A7V133 or KT7a) will do 133MHz and then some, but I'm afraid with your board you'll be stuck around 100.

dang, that 133 in KT133 had me fooled. Ah well, thanks for the info, does 110 give any real performance boost or should I let it alone?
Just realized that this post doesn't really belong in the AMD processors forum, sorry about that.
110mhz would make a bit of a difference to your mem bandwidth.. if you can get it that high, then use it!
