Games especially will run faster on 98 but if you like 2000 go with it. Your system should be plenty fast playing any game in win 2000. I think 2000 is the best os Microsoft has come up with.

really whatever you are most comfortable with, I like 98SE a lot, but thats just me and my oppinion. For gaming, yeah the 9x OSes are faster than 2000, but not by a whole lot.

98se and ME run equally well for me. I have not tried 2000 or XP.

With SP2 & the 12.60's (assuming your card is nVidia) W2K performs just as well as Win9x & has the added bonus of stability... :p

Windows2000 is great. It runs most of what I throw at it (old DOS apps that require Real Mode DOS don'w work), and I've never had a BSoD or had a program crash and in turn crash Windows (It keeps them sepperate). As long as you run it w/ SP2, you'll be fine.

I use W98 SE and it runs everything better than any other os I tried. i don't know ehich one is the best for you but DON"T use ME. they suck. I had a 12fps increase in Quake 3 when I moved back to W98 SE from ME.

I've run 98, ME and 2k with 2k being by far more stable. I'm not much of a gamer, but what I've tried on 2k has worked fine.

Why don't you dual boot and have the best of both worlds?

I run w98se, w2k pro (first release), wMe, and linux mandrake 7.2 on my 1.2ghz system (all operating sytems on different ibm ide drives). All run pretty stable with this processor. Of course, w2k are more stable no matter the processor, so keep them if you do serious work with your computer.
