I am looking into buying this case for a new PC I am hopeing to build...

I saw the 550W power supply (good ammount of power for me). What I was wondering is have any of you guys ever heard of the Extremo 550W? So, is it gold, or crap...

I really don't like the looks of those Extremo or Duro units... they seem very weak. In particular that "650w" unit has an awful 3.3/5 rating of 200w. They are too good to be true, and I doubt very much they will do anywhere near their ratings.

That 300w Tiger seems to be a Fortron (but not sure at all - the model number starts fps instead of fsp) - this one would probably be better than the two Extremo units combined, but I'd ask if they would swap in one of the Antec Truepowers for you (they don't have the 430, so try for the 480). I know these are a lot more expensive than these Extremo units, but you pretty much get what you pay for ;)

Avoid the Extremo like the plague. I bought one in a pinch to replace the Channel Well 350 I fried. When the mail lady handed me the package I thought "Man this is light, did they forget to pack the PSU?". Opened it up and sure enough it was in there.

This is the lightest PSU I have ever felt, lighter than an old Sparkle 230w I have laying around. The sad part is, the 230w Sparkle is probly a better PSU.

My rails are all over the place (3.3@3v 5@4.7, 12@11.5-11.9)and while it hasn't fried anything, I keep my system just mildly overclocked until I can replace it with my FSP460 thats on its way.

Also, there has been a couple instances where I thought I fried it. (System shut down and wouldnt reboot til I unplug, reset cmos). It was at that time that I knew I needed something better.

I would only consider the Extremo 550 as a 300ish, so if you just need a PSU for an old comp, then its probly ok (but I'd get a cheap Sparkle instead).

It is indeed "Too good to be true". The only time this PSU would see 550watts is if it got struck by lightning...

As far as STR8BUY.com goes. I had a good purchasing experience from them. I just didn't care for the product.
