Hi
I got myself a boxed new retail AMD 1 gig Thunderbird CPU on Ebay. Now I have been have freezing problems with it in Windows. My older 900 mhz Tbird and a 1.1gig run fine on this setup for me.
One thing I did notice is on the actual small square chip itself is the little logo in the bottom right is missing? My other Tbirdsd have them but this 1 gig chip doesnt. You know the one its like a little square logo made up of dots. Also the lettering on the CPU doesnt look as deeply etched as on my other chips.

This is the information on the CPU can you guys tell rom this info if it is a remark? I phoned AMD today but there office is closed til Monday now.

On Chip info:

AMD Athlon
A1000AMT3B
AXIA0118RPEW
95043180458
m c 1999 AMD

The M and C on the bottom line are within a circle i just couldnt find that particular character within my fonts.

The guy is willing to take it off me so he can test it for himself but if is a remark I want some action taken by AMD.

Thanks

Yes it does run at 1 gig but freezes randomly.

that is strange since the I Ghz AXIA chips have been going to 1400-1500.

The processor is missing the '27016'(I believe) and the associated markings..I have seen this before, and I don't think that it's reason to suspect foul play.

Not, in and of itself. Take a look at the ID guide here (http://www.ocinside.de/assets/images/socketa_id.jpg) and see how your processor compares.

sounds suspiciously like the old intel rebadge trick going on.

the markings
A1000AMT3B, the B tells me it's a FSB of 200 and not a 266. Are you attempting to run at 200 or 266?

lower to mid AMD CPU's are so cheap now I don't think anyone will make much money remarking them. 1Ghz is only $90 and 900MB is only $71. I doubt anyone will risk their business for 20 bucks. And if you're gonna remark it, why not make it AXIA-Y? Remarking usually happens on higher end CPU's.

And there's no 1Ghz C-core that I'm aware of except the AthlonMP. Make sure FSB is set to 100mhz.

But what about the small logo on the CPU itself? the one in the bottom right laser etched like the CPU information this is missing on this CPU and its on all of my other Chips? was this logo on all of your chips?
