I have a case I don't care to mutilate.
I also have several power supplies that are just sitting around.
I am getting a new mobo, and decided to up the wattage.

My main poer supply is 400w.
The new backup/secondary is 250w.
combined total= 650w!

I installed the second PSU in the front under the harddrive rails.
I lined the fan up with the hole in the front.
Then I reversed the fan to pull air in,
cut all unneeded wires, and mounted the unit!

No real difference. The only thing noticeable is the case temp has risen +10 degrees F.

Anyone else try this?

So you use one for mobo power, ect. and the other for drives and stuff?

Thats how I would do it I suppose.

Yeah, that's it.
Mobo and HSF run off the main one.

The case temp is just up from you sucking hot air into the case from that extra psu. Nice idea though. If you got yourself a full tower you could stack both psus in the back and keep your temps down. Just a thought.

I wish I has a full tower!
That is the next upgrade.
I have SCSI drives that are dying to spin up!

i used to run dual 250s....
one PSU used to power Motherboard.
the other HDD's (3) Optical (2) and Floppy.

I placed my second ontop of my case however....

In your case, i think you should put the fan back the way it was. You dont want to pull cold air into your case and heat it up with the PSU. AS you already have experience, it will rise your temps.
