I have these 2X256 OCZ DDR466 PC3700 Gold in my setup, but I'm not sure that I push them to the max.

I'm currently running my system @ 278, 5:4, 1.65v. That leaves me with a memory at ~222... my timings are 2.5-3-3-5. (these are cas 2 mem!)

I know that it could very well be my cpu who's stoping me here, but how high should these sticks be able to take me on 1:1 divider? I then mean how much does the average PC3700 OC?

I can't use more than 2.8v on my memory, couse if I turn it up tp 2.9v it wont even boot. Wierd?!

I'm just looking to put some extra juice out of my machine ;)

thanx

Average OC for 3700 Gold is in the 490-500 MHZ range. You can try loosening your timings and going for a 250 FSB 1:1 ratio.

It depends on your mainboard, but the Abit IC7, Asus P4C800 and most of the other high end Canterwood mobos will do 250 FSB 1:1 with the 3700 Gold.

Feel free to PM with any questions you may have.

I'm not sure that I will benefit from using 250 1:1 instead of 278 5:4. Or am I wrong?

I know that last time I tested 1:1 (not sure of the fsb tought) my raid got all messed up etc. :/

I'd like to pick up on this thread again... anyone with any useful info about this?

Running OCZ PC 3700 gold (2 x 256) just fine at 260 1:1. Thats at 2.8v 2.5,7,3,3. I can run 250@2,6,3,3. I currently run a IS7 2.4C at 285FSB, memory at 5:4 - 2,6,3,3 but I am bouncing back an forth from the 260 1:1 until I figure which is best for my system running the apps and games I use.

PAT settings are: Speed Racer, strengthen (? i think), 7, disable, disable. Not had a problem with these settings.

Benches help but at the end of the day its which is the better memory setting for apps I use everyday.

A 300FSB would be perfect for this memory at 5:4, but this 2.4c isn't getting there :( , so I keep testing

Perre.

In the Abit hosted forms (abits site) there is a thread on the volage problem for IC7 Max boards going above 2.8. You might want to take a gander over there.

I personally would run 2,3,3,7 or 2,3,3,6 as I think the settings you have 2.5-3-3-5 (the 5 any way) is to tight. I can only get a XMS LL to run that tight without data corruption. Try relaxing to 6 or 7 and running 1:1 again.

I bet if you set the timing to 2.5,3,3,7 you can run between 250-260fsb at 2.8v with no probs. Anything under 290fsb 5:4 @ 2,3,3,6 should be doable as well, if your chip can take it

my to cents

Thanx for all the replies.

I've been over at abits forum and read all about this 2.8+ voltage problem.:(

I think that I'll stay with 278fsb with 5:4 divider, couse I don't think that I would benefit from using a 1:1 divider if I can't go over 260 etc.

I'm a little scared of trying out 1:1 couse last time I did, my raid array got all screwed up. I can go as high as 283fsb (3.4GHz) but then I have to use 1.675v and this leaves me with peaks over 1.7v which I'm not comfortable with. I know that it's not the peaks that kills a cpu but since MB only tells me my highest vcore I can't say how often it's up on 1.7+.
