View Full Version : Just bought a Abit KT7a mainboard need info on OC !!!
Hi guys this is my second post in this section. I'm from Ireland so go easy with some Americian termonology. PLease tell me clearly what is window defogger for linking the l1 bridges. Could you give me a URL to buy this stuff. Secondly could anyone explain the concepts of FSB and multipler relating to overclocking. My spec is below:
Abit Kt7a non-raid
Athlon 1.1gig
192 MB Ram
g-force 256 32mbddr
Creative player 5.1
etc
Could someone suggest a good oc combination to use with my system (ie FBS + multiplier).
Please help!

The defogger kit is a repair kit for the heated rear window element in a car as as such conducts electricity which makes it suitable for joining the L1 bridges.. there are instructions on doing this on the front of overclockers.com
The defogger kits can be obtained from all good car accessory shops such as Halfords (I think you have them in Ireland).
There are good novice guides on the front of overclockers.com which are worth a read as they will tell you how to unlock the bridges and answer the questions you mention here in detail.
It is hard to give you any Bios reccomendation as vital information has been left out.. is your ram PC100 or PC133 ?... and what are your tempratures ?
try to give us as much information as you can and this will assist us in proving you with a reasonable answer
I thought about using the window defogger kit, but I
decided on a 0.5 PENTEL mech. pencil. I wasn't sure
sure it would even work, but surpriingly it did. It just took a
steady hand. I was only working on a $40 Duron though.

i agree...a mechanical .5 no.2 pencil is an EASY way to connect the two bridges for the o/c...try that out then go into your bios and start to O/C
