Hey everyone...well...i have a major problem.......back then.when the duron just came out.i brought an 650.......overclock great.got to 950......but i later did something.......and the chip wont seem to boot anymore.no matter wat i try......then i bought an 700 duron.....i havent try to overclock it until now.when i do it.....i can change the multiplier up to 900 r watever i choosein bios...and boot again......and it would boot up with 700 ...i did the pencil thing......and before with the 650.....if the connection is not made at L1......the computer wont boot up........with the 700 mhz one...it dont mattter...with no mark and L1 is not connected...i change the multiplier...it still boot.....but at 700......can anyone help......sorry that was sooo long........hope u guys can help me out.....thankz much......

Phathead...welcome to the forums. I'm not quite sure if I totally understand what your asking but I'll give it a shot. BTW...try using just one period once in a while :) Also...everyone will be able to offer more help if you can include simple things like your mobo, memory settings, Cooling Method, Operating system, etc.

You might want to try starting fresh. Clean off the pencil marks totally and try again being very careful to not let any lead cross between the bridges. Take your time w/ each bridge and sharpen your pencil often so the tip stays sharp.

Don't try to boot directly up to 900MHz w/ a 700MHz chip. You have to ease into it and find out what the limits of the chip are...taking your cooling into consideration. From what I've heard on these wonderful forums, you might be better off trying to go w/ an FSB (Front Side Bus) increase instead of concentrating on the multiplier.

Give everyone a little more info..and I'm sure you'll get the help you need.
