hey guys, Well i have a Radeon 8500 ATI version, not overclocked or anything, no extra cooling.
Basically my problem is when I load up a 3d game like Quake 3 or Halo for PC, I can play for a few minutes then my computer reboots.
I know its not a virus because i have run numerous scans on my pc as well as formatted twice. Can you please give me any idea as to what might be the problem, its really ****ing me off!!
Thanks
this sounds like a general instability problem.
might be heat related.
have you installed any new drivers, patches etc?
overclocked anything lately?
test your system's stability using something like P95's torture test.
could you list your system's components? CPU is P3 800, but what about graphics card, power supply, mobo, ram etc...
how did you know his cpu shiyan?
have you checked out your voltages? temps?

its not overclocked at all and everything is at stock.. could it be the ram that makes the game in 3d crash??
thanks

yah they seem fine to me.. also he knew my old system by looking at my profile it says i have a p3 800
Well, on my system the 5V line would drop from 5.05 idle to 4.75 when running 3D apps. So try to get a reading on your 5V line when running something 3D intensive.
Oh, this is with the 8500le

What type of RAM and Mobo do you have? What is your power supply brand?

I have the same problem on my 8500 and 9100 system, and my friend has the problem on his 9000pro. It happens only in halo, and only when we host though.

Your temps/voltages may be fine at idle, but does your system behave well under load? Prime95 was suggested above -- if your system survives that but not, say, looping 3dMark2001/2003, then your video card is out of whack (maybe the vid card heatsink is loose?)
