View Full Version : How do I quiet down my power supply?

I have an Antec 350w power supply that came with my 3700 case. After 7v moding and rhebusing my fans it is now the loudest thing in the case.

I'm afraid to just stick low cfm panaflows in it because what if they don't push enough air and cool it enough? Then it could burn out? So I wouldn't want to use anything less powerful then it has currently.

Any thoughts?

Low flow panaflos should actually do fine, as long as you know what you are doing, I see no prob with it, but you may want to ask this in the case and psu section of the forum to make sure it is alright. Imo it is fine.

since you allready know how to 7V and rhebus fans, just do the same with your PSU... as long as your case is still getting lots of cool air, your PSU will be fine.

OK, i'm rather drunk... but heres my input. Take it if you want, if not I really don't mind :D Just put a new fan in it, one that you can adjust the speed... most likely the fan you choose will beat any stock fan, so you should be fine with heat. PSU's are crazy. They flock together. Or... uhh, yea disregard that. But umm, I forgot what I was typing, but just get an adjustable fan? ... ok, don't listen to me for your sake. :D

Please don't double post the same threads in more than one area. Doubled threads get deleted and it turns the mods from this :D into this . While I'm here, moving to cases and power supplies.

I know. That's why I asked you not to instead of telling you you shouldn't have done it. It was a warning for everyone who may do so in the future.

A couple of weeks ago I replaced the original fan in my Antec 400W with a lower-speed (Stealth-equivalent) fan. I haven't had any problems with it. By far the loudest part of my computer right now is the hard drives.

I replaced the 80mm and 92mm fans in my Antec Truepower 550 with a panaflo 1a and a papst. MUCH quieter now and I haven't had any problems in the 3 months its been running!

Good to know guys. I suppose I'll give the Panaflo L1A's a try.
