could it be consider an upgrade? would the performance increase enough to consider getting it? the newegg refurb section has the 4600 at $140, I have a 4200. opinions?

I would say that it isnt worth the upgrade if you already have a 4200. For that kind of money you could get an ATI Radeon 9500 or a 9600. Both are DX 9.0 compliant and would work better with the future games to be released. If you are looking for more speed from your card have you tried OC'ing it?

i'm stock cooled so don't think OCing it will help much. And I couldn't find where the 9600 at below $150 (maybe havent look hard enough.

edit: what's a good OCing tools for a gainward 4200 anyway :D

well i know that newegg had 9600 pros for 165 or so(built by ati) im not sure which ocing tools to use on that since its been a while since i oc'd my ti4200

my gainward 4200 came with an overclocking utility on the install CD. You can easliy overclock the 4200 to near 4600 speeds on stock cooling. save your money.
