Simple - price/performance. AMD chips outperform Intel chips running at the same clock speed, and cost much less. You can buy a 1.4gig Tbird cheaper than a 1gig Pentium III, the tbird will overclock more and perform better. The other big plus on AMD's side is the ability to change the cpu multiplier, helping you to get even bigger oc's. As far as I can see, the only benefit to using Intel chips is their low power output - so they are easier to cool. However, I personally like a challenge - and if cooling a 100W+ cpu isn't a challenge, I don't know what is!

i agree...i think AMD is the best processor the public can buy... it has GRRREAT performance for the price and the overclock ability is OUTSTANDING
I wouldn't have anything else. I've owned a k6-400 and
now a Duron 700. For the price, you can't beat them.
