Anyone lap the TB cpu yet, I did, temps dropped another 4-7 degrees F. The raised letters and numbers on the dye are causing slight unevenness. I Just used 1000 grit sandpaper on a flat surface. BECAREFUL!!! Only sand enough to get the writing off!!!! Oh, it also weakens the dye, I crunched a corner off alittle on my 1.333 ayhja, but it still works.

Mmmmmm, I dunnno if I would be willing to weaken the die more then it already is just to know off 1C or 2C, but if anyone wants to get the absoloute coolest they can possibly get, then I guess it could work.

ANY who. I took my duron down 3 degrees by lapping my 800 to my FOP 38. I took ultra fine Valve Lapping grease (little dab will do ya) layed my heatsink and fan on top of the die and worked the CPu and die against each other. fiqure 8's then rotated 90 degree and done it again did this till I got a shinny survice on both of the cpu and heatsink. after this I used brakecleaner to thruoghly flush any grit from the cpu and heatsink. I then took a small piece of papper and put a bit of metal polish on both sides of the papper. worked this in between the die and heatsink to get a smotther finish and a shiny surface. The reason I lapped the die to the heatsink is I read somewhere where these guys who build telescopes will make there own lenses from crystal. They article mentioned unless you have some machine (big bucks) you will always get some form of convexing on the surface being lapped. so placeing the die against the heatsink and lapping this way I felt i would get a more even match on my die and Heatsink. rember you want to polish just till it gets shinny don't need a mirror finish, just knock the lettering off of the die and the machine finish on the heatsink.
