Its not that I have bought it yet, but my AMDk6 3D 500@575 smoked itself at the weekend.

Would I need to spend a fortune on the motherboard? If so, wouldnt i be better getting an Athlon 1GHz?

Ok, I will cut to the chase, what can I get for 150 pound?

The best buy you can get for around £150 (£145.15 + VAT) is a Abit-KT7A bundle from Here (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_AMD_Duron_Bundles_41.html) which features the outstanding Abit KT7A mobo and a unlocked Duron 800 guaranteed to do 1 Ghz equipped with a ThermoEngine V60-4210 CPU cooler.
These are all quality parts which will offer a high quality upgrade path for the future.

As Spock once told James T. Kirk, "as with all living things, the best of it's abilities"
