Will the Aocket A boards support the new palomino coming out, or will it require a new board? I ask because I am thinking about getting the Abit Kg7 coming out and it would be nice to stick a palomino in it. Thanks.

Well, since Abit is on record as saying that their current board the KT7A and RAID versions are 'Palomino ready' ...I tried to find the link from Computex..can't find it at this moment, one can almost make the leap that the newer KG7 will support Palomino.
There are people running PalominoMP in current model SDRAM and DDR motherboards. No special BIOS releases, but future releases might be tailored to Palomino.

Thanks that's reasuring, I will probably get a cheap t-bird untill the palomino comes out or just wait.
according to this article from athlonoc, http://www.athlonoc.com/athlon4overclocking.php, they tested an athlon 4 on an Abit KT7A so i would be that any socket A mobo can handle an Athlon 4.
what does 'support' mean though???
My understanding is that many boards (like the kt133a boards are hard wired to the in-socket) will not be able to use the on die thermistor of the A4.... What is it worth if you can't use the good features?
dew.
According to an article I believe I read on the front page of this site, none of the current boards will be able to take advantage of the on die thermistor, although they appear to support the rest of the features of the current socket A line. From what I've read, you may want to hold up on the purchase of the new Palomino line (MP I assume meaning "mobile processor") because of the limited increase in performance over the current line of T-BIRDS. This is all subject to change with the introduction of the "desktop" Palomino line of processors down the road.

I will most definitly get a t-bird then, it is in a mature state and I have a feeling they won't get the palomino up to a good state untill the middle of next year.
