Hi there

I really have a problem that is driving me crazy. When I play music on my system it sound like a scratchy CD, it doesn't matter if I play mp3 from the hard drive or original Music CD's all of them jump.
I have a soundblaster pci card with 128mb, my system spec you can see below even after a clean install of win 2k it didn't change.
Does anybody has an idea what the problem could be???

Welcome to the forums!

Boy, so many possibilities. I'd check with both Creative and your motherboards manufacturer for any known issues for running the two together.

Get the latest Creative drivers if you haven't already.

That is all I can think of right now.

Thank you for your reply, I don't know this whole thing is just weired. I forgot in my first post to mention that I had the same problem with my former Biostar M7VIG pro with onboard audio, so I don't know maybe it is something in my OS. I also tried it with the onboard audio of the new board, with the same results. I have the latest driver my OS is up to date. But this #@!żing thing keeps jumping. Anyway thank you for your efforts.

I've heard that SB cards don't like to play well with VIA.

Had a similar problem with a Abit Kt7A-RAID mobo using a VIA chipset. For some reason my SB Live would jump randomly playing any audio. I saw that it was sharing an IRQ with some other hardware in my system(raid controller, possibly agp cant quite remember). Anyways, I moved the card to a different PCI slot and voila. It no longer shares an IRQ and everybody is happy.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for that tip, I will try later on, it sounds reasonable.
