That will be my next system, just wait till a good motherboard comes out and when they move to .09nm, o ya, it must have AGP or 64PCI (whatever the new GPU's use) , Sata, Awsome sound like Soundstorm or a Audgy2, and to support non-ECC and ECC RAM. That is my dream board and it has to fit under $220 Bucks.
One day my dream will come true, or I will be shipped off to collage and be poor for a while, but whatever I can still dream. :D

You're going to be waiting a while for that board.... a lot of people are thinking that AMD will be going the same direction with Opterons that Intel went with Xeons. Which basically means the people who were lured over to SMP by the MPX boards will be going back to uniprocessor machines.

Well, EVENTUALLY.... (like in another 3 years) all of our "precious" ( :) ) will be too slow to satisfy us anymore and will be junked or relegated to firewall/small fileserver duties. I'm just thinking longer term here.

You're right, of course. By then, hopefully someone will be offering a better dually, for dirt cheap, like we're paying now.

Heh this is just salt in my wounds. Busted one of the USB ports on my K7D Master-L over the weekend (too anxious to get setup at a lan party I guess).
Not that I would fork over that much cash to replace this board just because of that but if I wanted to build another machine and use the non broken one as my main rig I am going to have to scrounge for a board.

*Sigh* My dreams have been crushed, however now I have a new dream, Athlon FX
But that really sucks, Well for us hardware tweakers anyway that want a cost effective way to have lots of power without paying the Xeon preminum. It really is a shame, :(
www.nextcomdirect.com still has some in stock. I think I will order 2 more if I can ever get mine working properly. I would like to have 3 dual systems available at home.

A dual Xeon platform isn't too much more for all the components until you buy the CPUs. That's the killer. I priced out both at newegg and the two modded MPs were $150 while the two Xeons were almost $600 for a decent sub 3GHz stepping.
By the time I get the bux for an MP, there won't be any left to buy :( same for the nVidia GF4 TI4x00 series and maybe even the GF4 MMX series too.

Have they discontinued the GF 4 Ti or MX series?
