View Full Version : Sudden MaxiJet Death

A few months ago, I delved into watercooling [of course, now I'm hooked]. When I put together my first system, I used a MaxiJet 1200. I know the Enheim and Danner Mag pumps are considered the best, but I was a bit strapped for cash at the time. Everything has been working great, until today. The pump is doing absolutely nothing when energized. I had it wired up to the PSU with a relay, so I unwired the relay ... nothing. The pump has been working flawlessly until today. It even worked great on my beta phase change cooled water reservoir (-8C block temps).

Is this the normal death of a pump? Is it dead? Any tricks to maybe getting it going again?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

not really normal, it usually will grind like crazy... open it up and see if theres something screwey with the impeller, maybe it locked up on the shaft because of hair or something else, take a look.

My Rio800 did the same thing. I opened it up, cleaned out the impeller shaft, cleaned up miscellaneous green gunk, and now it works fine. Of course, I used the fact that it stopped as an excuse to buy a Danner Mag 3. :)

I think I'm going to get some rocks and use the Rio to make a nice water feature in my room.

johan851 That was my problem too. The nice folks at Marine Depot suggested I take it apart and clean it. Of course, mine is epoxied shut, but I was able to clean out the debris. Guess I can't justify buying that Danner just yet. DAMN!

Thanks for the suggestion JFettig.
