BFG GeForce4 Ti 4200-8X 128MB DDR at stock speeds on PCI locked overclocked mobo, AGP is set to 66.

Since I had a large Antec case, I thought it made sense to get 5 quiet case fans. They were quiet and weak so I had a situation where the case temp was about 40 C. CPU was 50 when heavily stressed so I didn't care but....

I had black dots that look like tire tracks on my Windows Me boot up screen (Geforce4 Ti card). They only appear after the computer's been on for a while and disappear when the system is off for a little while.

They disappeared (well, there are still a few) after I put back the two Antec fans in (and kept the three quiet weak ones).

Case temp is now 35 C. Could 39 or 40 C cause tire tracks like dots?
I reapplied Arctic alumina, and there's a nice copper heatsink on there... still even at 35 C there's a couple of dots.

What case temp is bad for video card?

But, maybe either a intake of exhaust from the top of the case would help. It helped me alot. All year Case temp for me runs around 25- 30c.

Hope this helps, And hope you get it worked out.
