hi, I am about to unlock the multiplier on my duron 750 by using the "pencil trick" and I and going to also watercool it. I am not sure if there is going to be a problem but I just wanted to be on the safe side. The people on this message board have a great amount of experience and knowledge about this kind of stuff so I wont be loosing out by receiving any kind of advice :)

Please feel free to give me and tips on something I should try. Thx

i dont see any problem in doing that. in fact, its what most watercooled amd systems would be like. once i get everything on my comp fixed (arghg! hehe), and move the parts into a suite case i have selected for my next case, im gonna water cool it. its a pencil trick tbird ;-)

I see, I guess I will give it a go. Oh one other thing, for people who already watercool, do you think I should get a "spacer" to put between my copper cold plate and the cpu ? or should I leave it, because my local store sells them, but they are crappy and around $15 cdn, which is a rip off for the cardboard cutout with silver paint that they give you :)

i doubt you would need one, epsecially since the duron has those 4 padded tabs on it, but dont take my word for it. i wasnt planning on using one in my rig though

Ya, I forgot about those :) this is my first AMD cpu and I am not used to the chips having those. Thanks for reminding me and saving me $15 bucks.

sky.. those pads are better left on. they really do help a lot.

moridin: first off, welcome to the forum! second, i saw you mentioned a copper coldplate. if you're not using a peltier, then you don't need a coldplate for plain watercooling. it'll probably gives you worse results than without it. thirdly, and in response to your original question: yes, it's fine.

to check out watercooling head over to the cooling thread and read stuff there. There is a ton of stuff on how to set up a system, run it, what to add to the water, etc. Its a treasuretrove of information.
