Heh, everybody has heard the Bill Gates quote to the effect that 640K would be enough for anyone. Well, we would never of course expect such short sightedness from the great Dr Tom now would we? I mean, he is the greatest self proclaimed hardware expert of all time now isn't he?

How about...

the overclocking scene will mostly be dead by Fall 1999.

I remember this somewhat, and my memory of this is quite fuzzy but I believe at that time, Intel was planning to implement a FSB lock as well, they obviously didn't, but I guess Tom wrote the article before Intel changed their minds. Keep in mind that Tom's was actually a reputable hardware site at this time.

This one time they said ID make UT2k3... its in this (http://www17.tomshardware.com/cpu/20030923/) article somwhere I think.

I felt like smacking them since Epic made all the UT's!

that's pretty good.

just because Intel planned on locking down overclocking, didn't AMD exist back then?

A long time ago I was one of the people who started the overclocking scene on the Internet.

I like that. He started it and had the vision of its demise as well. That a kid Tom. Keep up the superb work.
