Hi. Lets just say Im tired that I cant push my TBird 800 anymore and I want to configure a new system. What is the best combo of motherboard, processor (AMD... yeaaah!!) and heatsink for not more than 400 bucks(cheaper would always be a better option) ? And the best to overclock?
And that may/may not include the other accessories. Im thinking of upgrading or maybe just building a whole new system depending on the cost involed. The most important thing is value for money.
Ps. The Delta is getting on my nerves....aRrGhhHhhhhh....
O/C is the devil. The temptation is just too strong. Sigh.....

Well, if you already have a quality Ausus a7v motherboard, why dish out more cash for another one?
If I were you id spend that 400 bucks on Danger Den Watercooling Kit ($184~253) and get a new processor perhaps an AMD Tbird 1.2 ($115).
If you already have an Asus A7V then i would make the change to DDR if you just want a system you can push. Abit KG7 $196, 1 Ghz AXIA $96, 256 megs PC2100 $46, OCZ Gladiator $30 = $366 + about 30 bucks shipping = approx. $396. Pretty decent.

Would71 (Jun 25, 2001 06:58 p.m.):
> Crucial PC2100 DDR SDRAM, 256 MB: $63.54 including tax and 2-day shipping
> EPoX 8K7A AMD-760 DDR mainboard: $135 including 3-day shipping from Z-Buy.com
(RAID model is $158, they have it now.. didn't when I ordered)
> Millennium Glaciator HSF: $51.14 including 2-day shipping
> 1.2 GHz OEM T-bird: $124 including 3-day shipping from Z-Buy.com
(I know some have it a little cheaper, but I buy more often from this place and like to stick with as few companies as possible)
The shipping from Crucial and Z-Buy are both included in the price. The only variable might be Millennium-thermal.com and their shipping.
Total price: $373.68
Long live DDR! :D
I did a little research and the results were similar to yours. Where can i get the glaciator from? And the T-Bird you are talking bout... is it AXIA or AYJHA or just a regular?

My CPU isint stabil at anything higher than 945Mhz (9.0 x 105). I have tried 9.5 x 100 and Win2k gives me blue screens.... and starts its stack dumping. I dont know if its the PSU (300watts Antec) holding me back or the V-core. I tried doing the voltage mod. Only end up smearing solder all over my mobo :) hehe. Sooo.. i think i might just buy a new mobo, rams and cpu... and build a new system all together.

If i do go for the 1 GIG T-bird, would i need a better PSU? I seem to be getting varying voltages when using MBM. The voltages are not so constant. But its currently stabil at 945Mhz using Prime and Folding. But now i think windows 2000 doesnt like me no more. :) it gave me a NT/service.exe error and it shut down my PC for me. sigh. Microsoft products.
