Hi,

Tried out 2 PSU's from HEC: 425VD-T (425 w) and 350VD-T (350 w).

Strangely, the 350 watt model is giving me better ratings on the 12V rail; with the 350VD-T I'm getting values over 12V always, and with the 425VD-T, it drops down to 11.977 at times.

3.3V, 5V, Vcore are Ok for both.

A little confused - better keep the 350 watt model?

Using a P4P800, P4 2.4C, 2 x 256 MB DDR400, 80 GB SATA HDD, CD-RW, SBLive, 2 x NIC, 56K Modem

Your suggestions appreciated.

11.977V is only 0.2% lower than perfect. Is your measurement equipment accurate enough such a small deviation to be significant? More importantly, does a 0.2% difference matter to your computer?

I've been told that the amount that the voltages change with load is a better indication of PSU quality than steady-state voltages are, provided all the voltages stay within specs.

Are you using software to get these numbers? If so, open up the computer and take readings with a multimeter. Software is not accurate.

larrymoencurly, voltages do change when I give more load. With the 350VD-T, the values are always over 12V.

OSUmaxx - yes I have made the "mistake" of relying on a software utility (Asus system utility). I really should take a multimeter and test.

Thanks.

Checked the 350VD-T with a multimeter. Readings are nearly identical to Asus probe utility. Always over 12 volts.

Will connect the 425VD-T and check.
