The shop where i normally get my components from is selling the 1ghz axia 200fsb for the same price as the 1.2ghz 266fsb. Which one should I get, and which one will i be able to overclock the highest? Thanks,

Rich

I am partial for the 1ghz AVIA, the AXIA does good too. I have not heard many good things about the 1.2.

Go for the 1gig AXIA. This CPU can reach 1400 EASILY. That is a 40% increase in speed from it's rated. That is about the same that the 1.2 will do, 1400. The 1gig might not be factory unlocked, but the 1.2gig will. I have no problem unlocking my own chips with conductive ink, so it all boils down to what you want. Higher percentage overclock with bragging rights, or unlocked L1's. Just my suggestions...

I didnt know that all 1.2ghz cpu's were unlocked. Is that true?

The 1.2's out NOW should be, ANYTHING over 1.2 should be factory unlocked. Then again, you can take the chance of getting an older stepping of the CPU and it will be unlocked. Thats just the chances you take.

So overall even tho the 1ghz is the same price as the 1.2, i should get the 1 ghz because it has the axia code. OK, thanks alot for the help people I'll take ur advice and probably go for the 1 ghz axia,

See, the 1gig AXIA will get you no less then a 1400 overclockability. So no mater what, you are getting a $200 CPU for the price of $100. That is a much better deal to me. Only thing is you'll need to unlock it unless they changed that since I got mine. The unlocking part is easy, practice with a pencil first a few times before doing the permanent solution of conductive materials. Good luck with your system and most of all, HAVE FUN DOING IT!
