I have a IWILL KA266 with a AMD 1.33 266FSB CPU and 256mbs of Micron DDR memory and I have been trying to do some over clocking by increaseing the FSB. This works fine long as I don't increase the FSB over 136. If I do the system boots fine but at some time soon after boot the screen will freeze. I have been leaving the voltage at the stock setting.
I would like to be able to at least run this system at 140FSB at 1400mhz.
140MHz isn't much of an overclock indeed. I think you will need to bump up core and IO voltage some notches. Core voltage from 1.7 to 1.8 or even higher if temps allow it certainly helps! I got the 3.3V VIO standard on 3.4V, it helps for me, some people think it doesn't matter for them, just see for yourself (in most of the cases VIO is set by jumper).
In many cases, FSB overclocking is limited by unstable system components, in most of the cases it is RAM. Good brands allow higher FSB and better overclocks, if you run into a barrier at 140 MHz, I don't think it's the Micron RAM, but just some lack of voltage.
You found a way to measure temps, always interesting! I see you've got a glaciator coming, if you don't have a proper heatsink right now, I think it's best to stick to burning in your CPU now at stockspeed. Use it for some intensive gaming, dedicated computing (seti ;D ) or special cpu stressers. CPU's that have been 'run-in' have better overclock potential.
Succes on OC'ing,
