Well I just got my new comp all ready but windows 2k won't install properly. I have 2 Raptors in Raid 0 and set them up during the install, but when it goes to format them it says to insert the windows 2000 service pack 3 cd? anyone know what is going on and how to get around it? I really really want to get my comp fully operational as soon as possible :P

By "set them up during the install", you mean you pressed F6, and loaded the RAID drivers from a floppy?

If you did that, and it is giving you this prompt, I don't know.

Yup pushed F6 and installed the raid from the floppy.

Hmmm. My searches of Google, Microsoft, and Abit have turned up nothing on this issue.

Really nice motherboard BTW. I was just reading the specs, makes me want to upgrade. But I'm poor.

What version is you w2k install CD?

You might be lower than sp3 and that's what your system requires.

Try unzipping the full net install Service pack 3 or 4 and then burning the files in the created folder to a CD. If you put that CD in when prompted, maybe the installer will be happy.

you can download SP3 or SP4 network files for w2k and burn into a CD and try to following the instruction to see if it helps

don't you have the driver for your RAID ???

Yea I installed the drivers for the raid.

Well it doesn't matter now, my comp won't boot for some reason. Starts up then It starts beeping 2 long beeps, 1 high pitch, 1 lower pitch over and over untill i turn off the powersuply. Going to ask what that error is on the mobo forum.

Well I unzipped all of the files onto a cd and put it in, but it doesn't work. It keeps asking for the cd. Should i put them in the i386 folder on the cd?

Well I guess I should just buy an OEM copy of windows2k. Anyone know where I can get one fast and cheap?

i don't know why it asks you for SP3 before w2k installed in your computer ????

do you have a full version of w2k ???

this is certainly weird

if you decide to get another CD for w2k, it is best to get winxp full version home or professional

w2k will not be supported by MS very SOON

Note: when you download SP3 or SP4, make sure you download NETWORK files of SP3 or SP4 ( each over 100mb)

I did DL the network file, 124 meg or something like that. And I Don't want to get xp because I need to install it on multiple computers on the network here at my house.

Did you unzip all those compressed files into a temp folder using winzip or equivalent?

Did you burn them to a CD-R so they're not in that unzipped folder but just loose so to speak on the CD?

w2k tells you to insert SP3 disk AFTER successfully installing RAID driver ?????

yes or no ???

to solve this kind of problem. Look up in the internet or MS site where you can get w2k INTEGERATED SP3 CD full version

i'm sure MS or software online has it.
