Whats better mobo EPOX EP-8K7A or Abit KG7 w/raid ???

Im trying to find out which 1 of these motherboards are more (Stabler) and I know for a fact EpoX is like $60 cheaper.

My dad talked to some guy and he said the Epox suks so my dad orderd for me the Abit KG7. = ( I hope not to be dissapointed by it. As soon as I get a few bucks im gona pick up an EpoX and build anothermachine with it.

Its a little early to tell if the Abit KG7 is gonna be a good board or not but since all of the Abit socket A boards have been the best i see no reason why it wont continue. They little i have heard about it has been very good. I say you wait a week or two for some reviews come out and then make a decision.

And maybe, one day, there will be a BIOS update that will somehow make it possible to run all 4 DIMM slots with unbuffered RAM. Who knows....

Thx any way ferg but my dad already orderd it he talked to his friend and he said im geting that board. Btw my 1.2 still freezes up during gaming like tribes 2,Rogue Spear etc... then when I reboot it ,it puts the computer to 900mhz and says in red that i put an improper CPU frequency im like wtf.I just gota wait for a new cpu and the new mobo thats in the mail good thing for a newer chip i only payed $20 extra for 1.4 :-) lol or else i would be with another 1.2,any ways i hope the cpu and stuff will do the trick,amd says they didn't even get there 1.4 cpus yet so I gota wait till they getem then they will chip it to me.

I would go with the Abit. I just tried to build a system with an Epox and the board was fried out of the box and had to return it.

Yes , I'm sure it was bad. As soon as I turned the power on it would send my monitor into sleep mode and would not boot. I tried switching the memmory, monitor, tried a different case & power supply, removed all the cards, etc...Why should I have to go through all that crap like removing batteries and letting it sit for a couple days? I returned it.

Sorry, i really doubt it because the chipset only supports 2 unbuffered ram.

I hope that the epox 8k7a doesn't suck cause i just bought one (mainly because i could get 2.25 volts w/out a mod :) ) i'll post about oc results and stabilty when i get the board. I can't wait :)

Yea I hope it don't suck also because I just orderd the EpoX board,Sparten technologies said they wouldn't have the Abit KG7 for 2 weeks so I canceled the order and orderd the Epox board from a store in NJ cnetpc.com $146.16 with tax and shiping and since I live in NYC staten Island it shouldn't take long at all to get my board i give it 2 days since they are like 30mins away from my house. :-) I hope im not dissapointed wish me luck.My Asus a7m266 board sucks it just freezes up alotttttttttttt i tried everything lets hope the epox fixes my freeze up in gaming thx.

Geeeeeeeez...are we thinking of the same Abit? My original BH6 motherboard was a buggy PoS and it was until I finally got rid of it. The KT7 was a very UNDERWHELMING board which does not overclock half as well as other boards.

I don't know why people love Abit so much, because believe me, while they may have been the first "overclocking" motherboards, they are by no means the best anymore...

I'd go EPoX all the way...

So far so good. My only real instability problems are not due to the board or even my overclocking. The only problems I have are with Tribes 2 randomly locking up on me, and from what I've gathered lately, that's been happening to TONS of people.. ever since the latest patch the stability has gone through the floor on T2.

I had these random locking problems with my A7V133 but it was because the AGP slot on the board was bad (killed my Radeon 64 and screwed my monitor up to boot...damn VIA chipsets).

I have the same EPoX board and graphics card as you and I can run T2 rock solid at 150 MHz FSB (had to give the memory a little bit more juice). Try setting your particle density all the way down, I think that may be the reason I am not having any problems.

I have a ASUS A7M266 and I tried MSI k7T266 and theyboth freeze the same exact way Iwana hit it with a hammer my comp it always freezes in rainbow six:Rogue spear and Tribes 2

I think my rogue spear cd is corrupt thats why it freezes. Operation flash point demo dont freeze at all hmm.

These problems I'm having with T2 have only come from the latest patch.. didn't have them before the patch. Between that and other user feedback, that's what leads me to believe that it's the patch and not me. I have the problems whether I use my KT7A or my 8K7A.. so I'm hesitant to blame the board. The Radeon LE runs fine at 180/360 MHz., and has no problems in any other game.. so I don't think it's going bad either. I just think Dynamix released a really crappy patch for T2, and I don't like it. (the Shrike also sucks now, and I'm mainly a pilot in T2, so that annoys me)

I'm not saying it's the board...in fact I doubt it. The thing is, we both have the same card and board, so we should both be freezing. I'm not and have NEVER frozen from the ELF. The only thing I can attribute it to is the fact that I'm running with my particle density all the way down. Everything else except building textures is maxed out (including anisotropy) and I am using the skybox only.

I'd try setting the particle density down and seeing if it goes away. Or, you can just download the beta patch from here:
