Question regarding memory

Well my question is that i have now 2x256MB PC3200 TwinMOS memory in Dual Channel, but i was thinking that if i would get 512MB stick to the last slot i would get 1GB of memory right? So how much of a performance difference would i get compared to my 2x256MB sticks on dual channel?

your performance would be worse. dual channel is much better than 1 gig of ram unless you are running really memory intensive apps. even then im not sure 1 gig in single channel would better than 512 in dual

At that point it would just be like doubling the ram. You'd still be in dual channel(I think) but believe me, 512 megs is plentyyyyyyy, I bought 2 512 sticks, I have yet to put more than 512 to use. =\
