View Full Version : Best method for unlocking a chip???
Hey everybody
I just got a 1gig 266 axia. What do you guys think is the best method of unlocking the chip? The pencil method seems the easiest. I've also seen the defogger method. Give me your opinions on what you think I should do. Btw, what kind of pencil shoudl i use if i do the pencil method.
Thanx

Well, easy and simple, just by using a pencil. HB or 2B pencil would be ok.
In my experience; The defogger paint! Tried the pencil for a couple of times, but the connection faded away after some time.
The defogger was the solution for me, haven´t had any problem after that!
Just take a look at the scr.shot!
Good luck!

I used the pencil and haven't had a problem .........yet
If your a dab hand with a soldering iron then soldering them together is a nice permanent way of doing it, but only if you are very confident with a soldering iron as you can't just flip it around like you can with a pencil and erase.
I think the defogger kit is the best way to go. its cheap, it lasts, its pretty easy to do.
I agree, the defogger repair kit is the best.

i think the circuit repair pen and some clear tape is the best way to do it just take two pieces of tape and parallel them to the bridge u wanna connect and then take a needle and dab some of the repair fluid on the tip and drag it over the gap between the tape , perfect every time
can't go wrong with the defogger.

I agree, defrogger is the best...
P.S dozier768 man I LOVE your pic!
Well if you are willing to throw down like 25 bucks (which i am not), you can get "tace tape" like dozier768 was talking about. This seems to be pretty fool proof, as it dosent wear off like some pencils and is held in place by the force of the heatsink.
