View Full Version : problem with stupid server machine
its a dfi m/b im not even sure what kind anymore,, k6-2-400, with a bunch of hd's,, i have no card but vid and 10/100 card.. however i had problems with it in other slots so i swithced it to one that worked before,, now if i uninstall the card and reinstall its labeleed at #5 and when i set the ip to what it was before it said it already has a network card assigned to it, i cant find them in safemode installed,,, any way to get rid of the ones that arent really there?

What OS are you running ?
If it is windows 2000 or XP try type ipconfig /release and see what happens.
Also if it is 2k or Xp do a remove hardware, and check the show hidden devices and you should be able to see the install of the network card from before.

Device Manager does not display all devices by default.
In Device Manager, click the View menu, and then select Show hidden devices.
In addition to hiding non–Plug and Play devices, Device Manager also hides phantom devices.
To view phantom devices at the command prompt, type:
set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1

but how do i remove the phantom devices//
it was typed in, but when i went to show device manager and hidden devicecs i didnt see any...
