Took your (you know who you are!) advice and added heat sink compound (A.S. II.), and temps are way down. (39 at idle, as opposed to almost 50 degrees). Still a bit of a way to go, new fan next. Made the mistake of buying an imitation Superorb fan, the ones I hear are so bad for our Duron/Athlons. Installing it, I actually chipped the top of the CPU core. Fortunately, it was only a relatively cheap Duron 800mhz, and it is still running fine (for now). I've just put it down to experience, but since I plan to get an Athlon 1.33 ghz fairly soon, theres no way I'd let that horrible thing anywhere near the new chip. Replaced with original fan, which does the trick ok, and installs a damn sight easier..! Superorb goes back to the store tomorrow, and I'll remember to avoid them, as per your advice, in future!
