View Full Version : This sux, need help
ok, just got my brand new glaciator today, go to put it on, and its too big for my a7a, theres a big old capacitor i guess at the corner of the socket and the heatsink hits it. how far can i bend it, even though that wont help...or can i use another socket lug to the side so that it only really covers about 2/3 of the cpu, if the heatsink is still on top of the core?? dont know if that would work, but it should...

Hey! Donīt bend it!!!! Try to remove a piece of the HS, or try to remove and resolder the capacitor with some small wires attached. But personally, I would go for the hacksaw..... Good luck :)

Or use a Dremel to relieve the heatsink to clear the capacitor. I wouldn't bend the capacitor unless absolutely necessary and if you already bent it leave it alone those wires are prone to metal fatigue.
