View Full Version : glaciator problems...
as i said in my other post, my glaciator doesnt fit. i moved it down to different lugs thinking the core doesnt have to be right in the center for it to work. well, i guess it doesnt put the right pressure on the core cuz i booted and windows wont load(hope thats not because i bent that capacitor) so i booted and went to the bios setup and saw my cpu temp start climbing 66...67...i dont really have any electronics experience, so i dont really know what im doing if i took off that capacitor thats in the way and soldered it, or whatever...i need some help.
ok, so i drew a crude little pic - see the capacitor in the way? oh and i did put a very thin layer of arctic silver on, dont worry...and no offense taken from you sayin all that. i just need to know the best way around this stupid capacitor stickin up.
I just took the poor Glaciator to a bench grinder. fits fine now. Oh ya and BTW this has to be the best HSF ever made or at least close. just by puttingit on my temps droped over 5C.
Oh the Humanity!
Grinding on a new HSF!
Why not remove the mobo, take a soldering iron and wick the cap out. Then lay it on its side and solder the leads back on? If the leads are too short, exten them a little bit with a snip of hookup wire.

What's funny is that i just put my glaciator on without any problem and it works AWSOME!!!!
success!! chopped the corner off and now its in MBM temps the same though...ive read that the glaciator gives even higher MBM temps, but actually does its job anyway..this true??

Yes...MBM temps are nonsense, just ignore them.

heh heh HOOT... thats my idea of true intelligence... why destroy some of the cooling potential of a brand new part when you can easily replace that cap.... i'd do it.... here here for all solderfreaks out there....... call us crazy, but i think its just the lead fumes:)
