As far as i see it... You pay much less for AMD cpu's as opposed to Intel's while gaining more benefit. The Athlon 1.2 out performs the P4 1.6... there are many many examples like this. Thats just how i see it, you're paying less and getting more.

This is true on the current generation of games and applications out right now. Software companies have to code specifically for the P4 in order to unleash its potential and this also has been demostrated with a few programs that have been optimized for it. However..they are pretty damn fast especially when overclocked through the front side bus. They are also easier to overclock because the multiplier can be unlocked, this is not possible with Intel's chips and effectively makes it less overclocker friendly. Mhz per Mhz Amd is also alot cheaper.

Case in point: a month or two ago, my roommate paid close to $300 for a PIII 800MHz. I upgraded my system a month or less after him, and paid $56 for an 800MHz AMD Duron. Sure, mine has a lower L2 cache, but that's really not going to be THAT much of a slowdown. And I don't think that $250 is worth the extra L2 cache.

and u could probably overclock it to about 1000 mhz without a hitch whereas for intel u have to overclock everything (PCI bus etc.) just to overclock the chip
