when windows starts on my computer, i usually get an error with msgsrv32. says it caused an exception 10H in module devcon32.dll. i have to restart a couple times, even into safe mode some times to get it to work. anyone ever seen this? ive looked all over the internet and cant find a solution that works.

Try reinstalling that DLL file from your original CD. Find out which cab file that is under and just right click on it and choose extract to whatever file that is in, most likely Windows/system. Good Luck!!

I had the identical problem and it was my sound blaster was installed corruptly. Try removing the sound blaster software and the card and fire it up. Try it!

The other thing, get a boot disk, boot into DOS, rename the win.com file to win.ren, and run setup off of the Windows 98 CD, when it prompts you for the directory, change from C:\Windows.000 to C:\Windows... let it do it's thing. You won't lose any information or programs in the process, it will just replace updated files.
