I've got a Duron 650@950. I noticed that any time I am on the net, pics and graphics are scrambled like a salad. All text and rest are sharp and clear. Put another Duron 600@950 and all is well. Tried 2 different mobo and the 650 still gives me a salad looking graphics. Any ideas on what could be wrong?? I thought that if a processor was going bad, it will just die!
Thanks

That is an interesting problem. Have you tried backing off the FSB a little on the 650? Not all CPUs age with dignity. ;D

maybe it's the video card that is causing the problem
try switching video card

I have backed off on the fsb and no change. Also I've tried 3 different video cards and 2 mobo and still no change. Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.

Examine the core of the CPU, If you've done a lot of HSF changes, you may have chipped your die. I've heard of problems such as these when the core has been damaged.

Frank,
In the beginning of time, you know the orb hsf, I did manage to damage the edges a little. But that was 5 months ago. I thought for sure I had killed this cpu after using an orb. But after reading these forums I decided to go Alpha. It has been running good since then. Tonight I am in the process of removing the defogger material to see if that works. If not, I don't know what else to do. If this cpu continues to give me problems I guess I'll bury it.
