at the same fsb, will i notice a difference between faster and slower memory timings? if so, how much? i need to justify my next ram purchase..which is between:

2x512mb Mushkin Level 2 Black PC3500 for $290

or

2x512mb Buffalo PC3700 for $200

the rig will be a 2500+ w/an Abit NF7-S rev2.0

with $90 difference, I go with the buffalo.

$90 is too much
with that money, why don't cash out buy a faster CPU ( instead of buying a $200 CPU , now buy $290 CPU, you will see much better performance than the RAM )

AMD seems to be more sensitive to tighter timings than Intel. Probably because of the higher fsb of the Intels.
