I just bought a A7A266 motherboard, and don't have enough for a 1ghz thunderbird, so i am gonna get a Duron. What is the best one for overclocking? I was thinking of getting the 750/700, but what do you guys think.

well i think the 700 and 750 are the best bang for the buck

Without a doubt, the best is the 600 Duron and preferable with the AKBA or AKCA stepping codes. See my sig.

Well, obviously not the 700 and 750. The 600 and 650 proves to be very much better !.

I agree with Hoot some of the best overclockers are the duron 600 and 650. My AKBA 600 will do 1102 aircooled at 2.11v or 1050 at 1.85v. I would either go with an AKBA 600-650 or any 800-850 for the most bang for your $.

wow hoot I saw the 600 you had go high but I didn't know your temps were so low! 37C running primer95 at 1.95volts. Whoa

I am very impressed with my 700, and it only cost
me $31. I have heard a lot of good things about the
600 and 750 too.

I really liked my Duron 700 I just passed on to my brother. Worked at 950MHz no problem, I ran it at 900 for the sake of reliability. I was running the Duron on a A7V, now with my A7V133 I bet I could get it to 1GHz if I pissed around enough with bus speeds and what not.

Heres my results based on testing of about 15 duron CPU's...

600's do 950-1000 (2 tested)
700's do 950-1000 (about 6 tested)
750's do 950-1000 (about 6 tested)
800's do 1000 (1 tested)
900's do 1100 (1 tested)
950's do 1150 (1 tested)

hope that helps!

duron 600-650 are easier to overclocked.

I have a Duron 800 @ 1050 but the 600's appear to be better

the 600's are $34 on pricewatch, the 800's are $33 on pricewatch, I'd say 800 Duron would be the way to go.
