Well, I got the 1.4GHz thunderbird and the ASUS A7A266 motherboard a couple days ago. The new heat probe is under the processor, I found out, so I thought I'd have a look...55C/131F! I was really wondering what the hell is going on. The same case with my old motherboard and processor had CPU temps of 89F. It also reads my Motherboard at 87F, but the cage is off the computer and my room is around 70-75...
I'm wondering, is this heat sensing program just really screwy or am I really running temperature this high? I'm not overclocked at all and I have thermaltake's Mini copper orb w/fan on my processor.

I have an Asus Mobo and the heat probe is a piece of crap and is not accurate. Though a cpu running at 89F is a little low to be believeable unless you're water cooled so your other setup my have been flawed as well.

Yeah get Motherboard Monitor it is way more accurate then Asus Probe.

Heh I thought 89 was low, also. The probe for that was between the heatsink and the processor, right in the thermal paste. That was with a normal Athlon 900.
There shouldn't be anything between the hsf and cpu except thermal paste, this will do horrible things to heat transfer. If you need a temperature probe on your cpu, have it rest on the side of the cpu so it doesn't interfere with cooling.
Wtf.. you said that your not overclocked at all but in your other post you said that your at 1.6 with a 1.4.. Your orb sucks get rid of it and explain your overclock deal??

I overclocked after I posted this. Strangely, the temp didnt change, either...
I have the Orb because that was what was offered for this CPU at the place I bought it at, and I dont know what else to get/where to get it...
