I placed the big 5x5 220v fan on the front panel, it takes up three racks and there's barely enough room for the DVD left. I made a support that is basically a square metal plate with a round hole in it to hold the fan, i also placed a switch on the front panel so i can turn it on and off as i want/need. I put a 220v line from the PSU monitor plug to the fan, through the case. The line is thick and well placed, but it's still kinda scary to think it runs so close to those sensitive parts. should i worry about interference or something? Also, i believe the monitor plug is a direct connect from the PSU feed, so i guess i'm not really draining anything from the system?

The system is running at 34 idle, 42 load. that's about 10C less than it used to be. now i got room for more oc, i want to hit the limit of 2500 for this CPU in this mobo, but i need to get my hands on some PC3200 for that.

Thanks a lot to everyone that helped

i don't know. will it make a difference?
i found some info on the box of the white grease:

Thermal conductivity: 0.001 cal/sec*cm*C
Density at 25C: 2.2-2.3
Dielectric rigidity: 10 kv/mm
Specific resistance: 5x10 ohm*cm

that's what i am using. maybe somebody who understands this can tell me if this is usable.

A new TIM isn't going to change your temps dramatically (we're talking 1 to 2 degrees). I'd say leave it as is.
