Does anyone know where to find a full list of the factory codes in the FPO/Batch code. I just received a p4 2.6C that is marked as

5325A571
so:
Factory code 5
Y 2003
Week 25

Thing is I have no clue where the 5 is from, can anyone help me out ?

Some discussion of that in this thread: http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=239273

Most likely 5 means China (i.e. PRC).

I still don't have a solid answer what planet number "5" is; my best guess is something in China because that's the marking on the chip. Maxvla was saying Taiwan, but I can't find any reference of Taiwan anywhere in Intel except for CMOS stuff.

I can't actually test mine until tomorrow night (other issues) so I'll have better results to report on Thursday.

Cool thx, someone there mentioned it was from taiwan, wonder if they overclock well :D

Ops *edit*
Yes thats what Maxvla said, also mentioned using google to get a factory list. Tried the intel site and google but no luck so far.

I've been googling now for five days, and while I cannot find any mention of plant code 5. I can find mention of Taiwan, but as Nookie already mentioned, Intel doesn't have an asssembly and testing fab there for processors. They only do R&D and some CMOs stuff there, as best I can find.

I'm not sure what link Maxvla found that at, but Intel doesn't do assembly of processors in Taiwan. They do have a fairly large facility in China that started assembling processors in the last 6 months. If the chip says China on it, that means it was assembled in China.

As for how well they overclock, it's too early to tell of course. I doubt it will do significantly better or worse than the average Malay or CR chip. Intel's assembly methods are standardized around the world, so there really isn't much variation.

i re-searched the keywords on google. i found the site i was looking at before but its a TSMC plant not Intel. sorry.

hmmm "alien technology" then

Serious can't find anything about the factory in china either only that intel is gonna invest in a factory there in 2004. And a 50 million $ ( :D oops) Dollar research lab openend in september 1998.

Goto www.intc.com, click on Financials->Annual Reports. Open the 2002 Annual Report pdf and search for China. There's information in there about what the plant does and when it opened.

$50 dollar research lab? I knew Chinese labor was cheap, but come on!! ;) :p

Yeah, I found the same info as you... Something about a BIIG plant going in late in '04, and a bunch of PR releases about the China research lab from a few years ago. I know it says China right on it, but hell I STILL can't find any good info on that fab :)

As I mentioned in that previous thread, I did find a single screenshot of an SL6PC 2.4B chip doing 3.42ghz on stock voltage that had plant code "5" on it. Only one mention, only one thread, only one screenprint. I can't find anything else on that entire series...

Still waiting for the memory to arrive for this one so no testing here yet ? How did you do ?
