I just ordered a A7A266, with a Duron 750. For anyone not familiar with the a7a266, it has 3 dimms for SDRAM, and 2 DIMMs for DDR ram. I can't wait to get it. It uses the ALI Magik 1 chipset, and should be mad fast. I can't wait for the 3 day mail to get here. This chip will never see defualt speeds!

I've got the same board, 1.4GHz T-Bird, though. Just remember, you can't use DDR and SDR at the same time or youll burn out the DDR, mm'kay?

Ok, thanx alot....At first i will be using the Sdram....I didn't have enough for a stick of 256mb PC2100 yet. I ll order that next week. How is the board in general? Fast? Reliable? How high did you take your 1.4?

O yea, i've been hearing about the A7M266 not having the multiplier. Is this also true with the A7A266? I HOPE NOT!.

It seems rather unlikely that the board would burn-out the DDR...more likely it just would not boot. Are you speaking from experience because if this is really how the board is designed, it's really stupid.

It's really how the board is designed...it says several times in the book not to have them both in at the same time. The DDR would not be able to take it and fry. As far as the multiplier goes, youll probably get the dip switches because yours will be new. I got mine to 1600 running Windows (Up the multiplier baby) and got 1700 (FSB change) before the BIOS wouldnt show. I had to make multiplier change in dipswitch because for whatever reason it wouldnt show in BIOS, which limits me to 12 X...I dont know what causes that, but oh well. Also, the probe reading you get will show almost 10C higher than it should.

I really think that OverClockers should get FREE overnight shipping! Mainly due to the fact that when are hardware doesn't show up with in a timely matter we become VERY DANGEROUS!!! LOL!
I know I get mad when my delivery gets rescheduled. So far UPS has rescheduled the last three packages that have came here. ERRRR! I really hope they don't do that with my Radeon 64 DDR, & my new board and cpu. That would really suck!

Yes - if you were silly enough to put both types of memory in the board, it would kill the DDR.

This is due to a lack of fail safeing and auto detection of SDRAM which requires a voltage of 3.3v to operate, not the 2.5v that DDR operates on. Hence all dimm sockets get 3.3v at power on - bang the DDR dies.

Well, its sunday....yesterday i was hoping my stuff would get here...but of course it didn't. It will definetly be here tomorrow, as i was told by a representative. I modded my whole case yesterday out of boredom. I never had case fans before as i always thought there was no need if i had the case open. Well i changed my mind! I cut a nice whole in the top of the case and added a 40mm fan. I added my 80mm Delta in the back at 25V. Then i put another 80mm at the bottom front. GEEEZ I really want my stuff! I am not very patient!

i have the a7a266 and a 1.2...right now its at 1.4 (140x10), and i got a little stuck. windows wont boot when i set the multiplier to 10.5x. dunno what the prob is, tried more voltage and that didnt work. the board is great though, and youl have dip switches to set the multiplier, i do and mines a few months old.
